The captain of the Pittsburgh Penguins will try and keep up, but Connor McDavid could again make history.

The captain of the Pittsburgh Penguins will try and keep up, but Connor McDavid could again make history.

There may not be any rivalry heat between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Edmonton Oilers, but they have two of the best players to ever lace a pair of skates.

Sidney Crosby has been leading the Penguins since he entered the league in 2005, exactly 10 years before Connor McDavid broke in with the Oilers.

Over the last few seasons, Crosby has found himself taking a backseat to McDavid in terms of being discussed as the best active player in the NHL.

As Crosby ages, McDavid is hitting his prime and finding himself putting up unreal numbers.

Just last year, McDavid scored an astronomical 153 points, but Crosby thinks there’s still room for McDavid to grow.

Crosby told Mike Zeisberger of NHL.com, that hitting a point total like 170 wouldn’t be out of the question.

At first, no one believed 150 points would be possible, but McDavid surpassed that number with ease.

About to enter his 9th season in the NHL, and without much postseason success, McDavid is hungry for more.

No one in the NHL has hit 150 since Penguins’ legend Mario Lemieux notched 161 in 1995-96; no one has hit 170 since Lemieux pushed 199 in 1988-89.

Is McDavid capable of putting his name in elite company? Crosby seems to think so.
