Celebrini & Kovalenko Lead Sharks Past Blues 4-3

Macklin Celebrini scored twice and had an assist as he led the San Jose Sharks past the St. Louis Blues 4-3.

Why San Jose Sharks' Macklin Celebrini Is The Early Calder Trophy Candidate

Alexandar Georgiev made 17 saves for his first win with the San Jose Sharks, and Nikolai Kovalenko had three assists.

Kovalenko and Georgiev were acquired from the Colorado Avalanche in a trade on Dec. 8. Tyler Toffoli and Jake Walman scored the other goals for the Sharks. Shakir Mukhamadullin made his season debut

The Blues got goals from Brayden Schenn, Jake Neighbours, and Jordan Kyrou but lost for just the second time in regulation since head coach Jim Montgomery took over. Jordan Binnington made 27 saves.

The Sharks finish their six-game road trip with a .500 record at 3-3. San Jose faced some of the league's best teams, which included an 8-1 defeat by the Tampa Bay Lightning on the second game of the trip.

Klim Kostin left the game after the second period and did not return with an undisclosed injury.

Toffoli finishes a chaotic play of sticks in front of the Blues net to give the Sharks a 1-0 lead just 1:21 into the first period.

Neighbours scored a pretty toe-drag release goal to tie the game at one for the Blues at 10:26.

Celebrini follows up a failed pass with a shot past Binnington to score his first career road goal to give the Sharks a 2-1 lead at 5:43 of the second period.

Celebrini scored his second goal of the period with a bar-down shot over the glove at 19:53.

Schenn cuts the Sharks' lead to 3-2 after putting in a puck, sitting right by the side of the net.

Nikolai Kovalenko earns his third assist with a great pass to Walman on a two-on-one.

Kyrou finishes off a terrific passing play for a wide-open net to make it a 4-3 game.
