
Magnus Chrona played an incredible game in his second career start, making 36 saves, but ultimately couldn't do enough in the shootout as the Dallas Stars beat the San Jose Sharks 3-2 on Saturday night.
Dallas dominated all night, but the Sharks somehow pulled out a victory behind goals from William Eklund and Filip Zadina, they some how pulled it out. Luke Kunin had two assists.
Radek Faksa and Jason Robertson scored for the Stars, and Jake Oettinger made 21 saves.
San Jose dressed 11 forwards and seven defensemen, although Calen Addison played forward whenever he was on the ice. Ty Emberson is out week-to-week, and Alexander Barabanov did not travel.
Chrona continually bailed out the Sharks, especially early. Chrona faced 29 shots during the first two periods and stopped 28. Eklund scored for the second straight game, and Zadina picked up his fourth goal in the last eight games.
The Sharks carried a bit more in the third period, but neither team could score after Robertson tied it early in the period.
William Eklund collects the puck after a shot rebounded back to him, toe-dragged around Jake Oettinger, and put it in the net for his 10th goal of the season.
Chrona was stellar in the first period, stopping 12 shots, including a goal-saving stick sweep save.
After an original shot took a deflection, Radek Faksa finds the puck behind Chrona. It was Faksa's 4th goal of the season.
Filip Zadina somehow scored his 9th goal of the season after the puck bounced high over the goalie and trickled its way JUST enough over the goal line.
Fabian Zetterlund blocked a hard shot off his right leg and left for the locker room with considerable pain.
Fabian Zetterlund returned to the game for the opening faceoff of the third period.
Zadina is pressured in the defensive zone and gets a delay of game penalty. Jason Robertson converted early and scored his 21st goal of the season.
Jamie Benn scores the eventual game-winning shootout goal for the Stars.
