Darren Yamashita-USA TODAY Sports - Sharks Goalie Appreciative Of Kaapo Kahkonen's Advice; Says Fellow Swedes Make Him Feel At Home

San Jose Sharks goalie Magnus Chrona is starting his second career game tonight. Still, even with his short experience with Kaapo Kahkonen, he's felt his experience pays dividends for him.

"This is different compared to the AHL. There are a lot of high-skill players here. [Kahkonen told me] to make those extra reads, be patient, and have a hard compete," Chrona said about the advice Kahkonen has given him. "He's been great to me. Both him and Blackwood have given tips and been there to support me."

Chrona told THN on Wednesday that he is excited about this opportunity.

During this recall, Sharks' goalie coach Thomas Speer kept it simple with Chrona. They've spent extensive time working together on the ice after practice and morning skates.

"Just trust my style. Adapt some things that work at the NHL level," Chrona said. "Keep those small details I need to have in the back of my mind when playing and practicing. Get all the experience and reps that I can at this level."

Chrona said it has been a while since he played with a teammate from Sweden, his native country. Fabian Zetterlund and William Eklund welcomed Chrona into their friendship as if he had been in the NHL all season.

"It's great. I haven't been with a Swede in a long time on my team, so it's different," Chrona said. "It's nice to be able to talk Swedish with some guys and hang out with each other. It just feels like home."

Chrona has given up eight goals in two games at the NHL level and faces another tough test in the Dallas Stars. Tonight's game will be a chance for Chrona to prove he has a future in the NHL and gain confidence in his own game.
