The San Jose Sharks (16-48- visit the St. Louis Blues (39-30-4) with a chance to play spoiler.
The Blues sit five points behind the Los Angeles Kings for the second and final wild-card spot in the Western Conference. They need all the points they can get while the Sharks are on a nine-game losing streak.
The Sharks will play the same lineup as the game against the Minnesota Wild. Mackenzie Blackwood will start in goal.
During the first period of the last game, Sharks head coach David Quinn rotated the defensive pairs.
Kevin Labanc will stay in the lineup for a second straight game.
San Jose had chances to score last game but couldn't put the puck in the back of the net, despite a strong effort in the second and third periods.
"Just be a little bit more alert [and] a little bit harder in the scoring situations," Quinn said. "There's a difference between being there and taking the shot but also being there and really taking a shot and bearing down on your chances. We've got to do a little bit better job in that area."
Sharks projected line combinations:
Kostin-Granlund-Zetterlund
Eklund-Kunin-Bailey
Bordeleau-Sturm-Hoffman
Labanc-Carpenter-Zadina
Ferraro-Burroughs
Thrun-Addison
Vlasic-Rutta
Blackwood
Cooley
Puck drop is at 5 p.m. and can be seen on NBC Sports California or the Sharks Audio Network.
