The medal rounds get going today at the 2025 IIHF World Championships. After seven games each, we’re down to the final eight countries, all with one thing in mind — winning gold.

The San Jose Sharks are still in it. All three of their players have advanced to the quarters and are now looking to help their countries take that next step.

With eight teams left, there are four games on the schedule.

The first two get going at 10:20 a.m. EST.

Will Smith and Team USA will try to leave a rough round robin behind them as they go up against Finland. Over in the other matchup, Austria takes on Switzerland with a spot in the final four on the line.

The next two games are set for 2:20 p.m. EST.

Czechia will try to defend last year’s title against Sweden, who just got a big boost with the addition of William Nylander after the Maple Leafs were eliminated. He’ll join Alexander Wennberg as Sweden looks to knock off the defending champs.

Then there’s Canada vs. Denmark. Canada, led by Macklin Celebrini and Sidney Crosby, is the heavy favourite. But as we’ve seen before, nothing is guaranteed. One bad game and it could all slip away, so they’ll need to bring it.

It’s a massive day at the Worlds. Eight teams going in, four coming out. After today, the winners move on with a shot at the gold medal game. The rest? They'll battle it out for bronze.
