San Jose Sharks prospect David Klee has won the Clark Cup (USHL Championship) with the Muskegon Lumberjacks.

The game was tied 3-3 in overtime when the Lumberjacks’ Jack Christ scored the game-winning goal to clinch the USHL Championship, defeating the Waterloo Black Hawks in five games.

Interestingly enough, 21 years ago, former Shark Joe Pavelski scored the game-winning goal for the Black Hawks to win them the Clark Cup. Flash forward to this year—another Shark has won it, this time on the back of Christ, who scored the OT winner.

As for Klee, he had nine points in 14 playoff games. In the regular season, he posted 45 points in 58 games, which was a career high.

Now that the USHL Championship has been handed out, Klee's attention turns to the University of North Dakota, where he has committed to play in the NCAA.

The 20-year-old was a seventh-round pick in the 2023 NHL Draft by the Sharks and is the son of former NHLer Ken Klee, who played 14 years in the league.

David also has two brothers—Garrett Klee, 27, who played for the Kansas City Mavericks in the ECHL, and Mason Klee, 25, who plays for the Worcester Railers in the ECHL.

He hopes to follow in his dad’s footsteps and eventually make it to the NHL after his time in college. At this time, he is unsigned and has until Aug. 15, 2028, to sign or he will become a free agent at the age of 23.
