Dean Tait - Sport Shots - BREAKING: Celebrini Misses Sharks Practice With Lower-Body Injury

San Jose Sharks rookie Macklin Celebrini is day-to-day with a lower-body injury he suffered against Utah HC.

"Honestly, it's just, he's been through a lot," Warsofsky said. "The rookie tournament, the travel. He's been bouncing around media stuff this summer. I'd say it's a little more wear and tear and more precautionary than anything."

Celebrini slid hard into the boards after driving the net in the second period of last night's preseason game against Utah HC. He might've been partially tripped on the play, but no penalty was called.

"I mean, it's hockey, right? Guys are going through some things, not just Macklin, other guys that are banged up," Warsofsky said. "We're on this grind. It's begun, and we got to deal with it and got to be a pro. Take care of your body, and be in here early and stay in here late to recover, and [it's] not just him doing it. It's all of our guys."

The team ruled the No. 1 pick as day-to-day at practice this morning. Head coach Ryan Warsofsky could not provide an update after last night's game.

"Honestly, it just, he's been through a lot," Warsofsky said. "The rookie tournament, the travel. He's been bouncing around media stuff this summer. I'd say it's a little more wear and tear and more precautionary than anything."

"It's just a lower-body thing that has been nagging him," Warsofsky said.

Celebrini left practice early one-day last week but did not miss any more time afterward.

As far as being ready for the regular season opener, Warsofsky wouldn't commit this early.

"We're taking this day by day. I know it's a broken record, but we'll see how he feels tomorrow and the next day, and we'll make a decision when we get there on Thursday," Warsofsky said.

Alex Wennberg took Celebrini's place on the top line at practice today.
