San Jose Sharks defenseman Luca Cagnoni had a tough night defensively against a more NHL-quality team.

He showed his usual flashes of puck-moving ability and strong defensive stick. Against a team fielding more NHL players, Cagnoni showed his inexperience and allowed some high-quality chances against.

His night was overshadowed by Macklin Celebrini's injury, which may have deflated the team for the third period.

Cagnoni finished with 19:57 TOI, two shots, and was -1.

First period:

Cagnoni ran the second powerplay unit and created a few good opportunities once he got on the ice. San Jose failed to score on the man advantage, but both units looked solid.

Second period:

Cagnoni got caught puck-watching and lost a man behind him, but Blackwood made the save to bail him out.

Third period:

Cagnoni once again got caught a little high in the defensive zone and had one of his first experiences defending a true NHL player in Barrett Hayton.
