Bob Frid-USA TODAY Sports - BREAKING: Sharks No. 1 Defenseman Leaves Game Against Avalanche

The San Jose Sharks can't catch a break as they lose Mario Ferraro to an upper-body injury against the Colorado Avalanche.

Ferraro was involved in a collision with Colorado's Nathan MacKinnon in the first period of tonight's game.

The Sharks already lead the league in man games lost due to injury. San Jose even got reinforcements for this game as Ty Emberson returned from a lower-body injury. Mackenzie Blackwood had been scratched the last two games due to an illness and is the backup goalie tonight.

San Jose will return home for three games after tonight, and there will be an update regarding Ferraro's status during practice sometime this week.
