Anthony Duclair scored twice, but Boone Jenner scored with 12.9 seconds left in the third period as the Columbus Blue Jackets beat the San Jose Sharks 4-3 on Saturday night.

"Not the start that we wanted. Obviously, giving up, I think it was three or four breakaways there in the first. Kaapo held us in there, [and] kept it a tight game. I think we picked it up a little bit in the second and third," Duclair said postgame. "Tie game going to last few minutes in the game [and it] could have gone either way. It's obviously tough to lose the way we did."

Besides Jenner, the Blue Jackets got goals from Zach Werenski, Dmitri Voronkov, and Kirill Marchenko. Elvis Merzlikins looked shaky early on but finished the game with 30 saves.

Duclair's two goals get him to 11 on the season. Fabian Zetterlund scored his 15th goal of the season, and Calen Addison had two assists. Kaapo Kahkonen displayed his new Cali Fin pads and made 37 saves.

"We talked about situational hockey this morning and just another opportunity for us to play smart," Sharks head coach David Quinn said. "We lost f3 in the o-zone and we get beat up ice."

The Sharks penalty kill was terrific yet again, going 3 for 3. They've killed off 20 straight across the last six games.

Columbus exploited the Sharks' defense early by splitting the point and getting breakaways. After head coach David Quinn adjusted the pairings, the breakaways stopped.

"We just love watching the puck way too much and not really paying attention to the other nine bodies on the ice," Quinn said. "We've got to do a better job in that area."

"Disappointing. I thought that we were cleaning that area up. Tonight was pretty sloppy," Quinn said about the team defense.

Anthony Duclair speeds down the middle for a breakaway and beats the goalie five-hole. Duclair looked like he lost the puck, but the move could've been intentional. It was his 10th goal of the season.

Johnny Gaudreau finds Zach Werenski with a sweet saucer pass for the goal. Werenski has two goals this season.

Kirill Marchenko fires a powerful wrist shot past Kahkonen for his 16th of the season. Jackets scored two goals in a 1:07 span.

Johnny Gaudreau looked like he finally scored a goal in this game after missing three breakaways, but David Quinn challenged for offside and won.

Dmitri Vronkov scores after the Blue Jackets have a netmouth scramble in front of Kahkonen. It was Voronkov's 14th goal of the season.

Duclair pulls off his backhand forehand move this time and beats Merzlikins after Zetterlund fed him in front.

Fabian Zetterlund scored his 15th goal of the season on the powerplay after Calen Addison gave him a great pass from the point. The Sharks did a terrific job with puck retrieval before the goal.

Boone Jenner sneaks behind the defense and scores with 12.9 seconds to go.
