The San Jose Sharks have won the NHL Draft Lottery, and GM Mike Grier didn't hide about who his pick would be.

"I would say, I would think so, yeah," Grier said when asked if he would pick Macklin Celebrini first overall.

Celebrini is the unanimous projected No. 1 pick at the upcoming draft, and from GM to the Lottery Broadcast, to NHL media outlets, there has been an expectation that Celebrini will go No. 1. It is rare when a GM outright confirms, or this case mostly confirms, who the team will select so soon.

"I think we'll talk with him and his family to see what he's feeling but I think he's got the ability to play [in the NHL]," Grier said about Celebrini's NHL readiness. "I think he's got a special mentality to make himself better [and] push himself. Super competitive. [He] brings it every day, and already, as a 17-year-old kid, he's got a great level of professionalism to him. I think he gives himself every chance to succeed."
