The countdown is on to the 2025 NHL Draft. We are now less than a week away from the start of the draft, where the future stars of the team will be selected. For the San Jose Sharks, there are a lot of options on the table when it comes to who to pick with their 30th overall pick. They also own the second overall pick, but with their 30th pick, there are so many players that they could draft that have the potential to be impact players down the road.

Over the past few weeks, we've been covering some potential draft targets that they can pick with the 2nd, 30th or even the 33rd overall pick in the draft. It seems more and more likely that the Sharks will be selecting Michael Misa with the second pick. Which leaves the 30th. While Bill Zonnon and Henry Brzustewicz make sense, there is one other name that could potentially drop to them at 30, and if he does, they have to select him no questions asked.

That would be goaltender Joshua Ravensbergen. While it is unlikely that he falls all the way to 30, GM Mike Grier may need to get creative with how to select him. That could involve a trade up, but either way, he would be a great addition to the organization for years to come.

    Scouting Report:

    Team: Prince George Cougars (WHL)

    2024–25 Stats: 33-13-4, 3.00 GAA, .902 SV%

    DOB: Nov. 27, 2006

    Position: G

    Catches: Right

    Height: 6-foot-5

    Weight: 192 lbs

Ravensbergen is exactly what every NHL team wants in their goalies nowadays. At 6-foot-5, he is huge and has a ton of potential. He tends to use his size to his advantage. When he comes out to cut off the angle, he takes away a good portion of the net. He is confident in his abilities, which always makes you play better. He also is a rare right-handed catching goalie who has the ability to step into any situation and be as calm as ever. He doesn't ever seem to be rattled. He sticks to his fundamentals and has been very dominant throughout his junior career.

The only area to his game that may need work is his rebound control. He tends to always make the first shot, but at times he loses the rebound and it's there for the taking. That is a similar issue that Anthony Stolarz has, which could be a relation to their size. All in all though, he would be an absolute steal at number 30 if he did fall in the draft.

San Jose Sharks Weekly Rundown: June 22, 2025 San Jose Sharks Weekly Rundown: June 22, 2025 Happy Sunday, Sharks fans. Hope the week treated you well and you’re enjoying a bit of a break this weekend. As always, Sunday means it’s time for the Weekly Rundown. So grab your coffee, settle in, and let’s take a look back at everything that went down this past week on The Hockey News – San Jose Sharks site.

    What the Scouts Are Saying:

An imposing 6-foot-5 goalie who moves well and has elite play reading, Ravensbergen doesn’t have to look flashy because he’s always in the right position. He challenges shooters appropriately, which can lead to situations where he simply engulfs the entire net because of his size. — Elite Prospects, 2025

"He’s 6-foot-5. He’s very athletic with the quick-twitch in his lower half of a 6-foot-1 goaltender. He anticipates the play well and is quite aggressive in challenging shooters with his big frame." — Corey Pronman, The Athletic

"He moves very smoothly in the net for his size. He’s smart in his reads and anticipation. He can go post-to-post or low-to-high to get to difficult saves with his length and has definite room to get more powerful through his pushes." — Scott Wheeler, The Athletic

"Ravensbergen (6-5, 192) has the prototypical NHL size, and his athleticism and demeanor also are top qualities. The 18-year-old was 33-13-4 with a 3.00 goals-against average and .901 save percentage in 51 regular-season games." — Adam Kimelman, NHL.com

"In addition to his standout play in the WHL this season, he also had an assist and made 15 saves on 16 shots in a 6-1 win against the NTDP in Game 1 of the CHL USA Prospects Challenge in London, Ontario, on Nov. 26." — Mike Morreale, NHL.com

"At 6-foot-5, he has incredible size, great athleticism, and a calm demeanour. Package that together, and he’s an intriguing prospect. His numbers aren’t fantastic by any means, but he snagged wins consistently on a team that would be in a lot more trouble if he didn’t have their back." — Steven Ellis, Daily Faceoff

San Jose Sharks 2025 Preseason Schedule Released San Jose Sharks 2025 Preseason Schedule Released Now that the 2025 offseason is in full swing, things are starting to move quickly. But before trades, signings, and roster battles take over, the first official item on the calendar is the release of the preseason schedule. The San Jose Sharks dropped theirs today, and it’s about what you’d expect this time of year.

It is more likely that if the Sharks wanted him, they would need to trade up in the draft, since he could go as early as the 14-16 range. The Athletic had him going at number 26 to the Nashville Predators in their latest mock draft. We all know the last time they chose a future starting goalie in the first round. It was Yaroslav Askarov, who is likely the number one goalie for the Sharks this coming season. It is always good to have goalie depth, especially ones that you can get in the first round. If things don't work out with Askarov, or he prices himself out of San Jose in the future, they could easily turn to Ravensbergen. It wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility for Grier to pull off a deal with the Predators and draft Ravensbergen for the future.

They hold the Dallas Stars’ 30th overall pick from the Mikael Granlund and Cody Ceci trade earlier this season.
