The saga of San Jose Sharks' top defenseman Jake Walman continued Thursday morning. Due to an upper-body injury, Walman will not play against the Minnesota Wild.

Walman sat out the Sharks previous game for a coach's decision. Head coach Ryan Warsofsky told reporters yesterday that his decision wasn't based on play. Warsofsky said tonight's absence is unrelated to the coach's decision on Nov. 5.

When Walman spoke to reporters on Tuesday, he confirmed that he wasn't being scratched due to an injury. The defenseman said he felt he could play through it. He took an awkward hit against the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday, Nov. 2.

He would leave the game with under two minutes left in the first period but re-joined the bench as the second period began.

Per Warsfosky, Walman would've been a game-time decision against the Columbus Blue Jackets regardless of what happened with the coach's decision.
