    San Jose Sharks forward Mikael Granlund has been suspended for one game for Team Finland at the 2024 IIHF World Championship for cross-checking.

    San Jose Sharks forward Mikael Granlund has been suspended for one game for Team Finland at the 2024 IIHF World Championship for cross-checking.

    Granlund is Team Finland's captain and has five assists in seven games. Granlund will miss the quarterfinal game against rival Team Sweden. 

    Against Switzerland, Granlund threw a cross-check that caught the opposing player in the face, leading to a five-minute major and a game misconduct. 

    Granlund will need his team to beat Sweden to move on to the semi-finals against Team USA or Czechia.
