David Gonzales-USA TODAY Sports - Sharks Forward Suspended One Game At World Championship

San Jose Sharks forward Mikael Granlund has been suspended for one game for Team Finland at the 2024 IIHF World Championship for cross-checking.

Granlund is Team Finland's captain and has five assists in seven games. Granlund will miss the quarterfinal game against rival Team Sweden.

Against Switzerland, Granlund threw a cross-check that caught the opposing player in the face, leading to a five-minute major and a game misconduct.

Granlund will need his team to beat Sweden to move on to the semi-finals against Team USA or Czechia.
