Gabriel Vilardi scored the game-winning goal as the Winnipeg Jets beat the San Jose Sharks 2-1 on Thursday night.
San Jose has lost ten games in a row for the second time this season.
"We just played the best team in the Western Conference right now, and it was a toe-to-toe game," Sharks head coach David Quinn said. "Our first 15 minutes were not good. After that, they had six scoring chances, five on five. Our guys are competing their asses off, and they keep plugging away."
Connor Hellebuyck celebrated being named an all-star with a 27-save performance and his 19th win. Morgan Barron scored the other goal for the Jets.
Alexander Barabanov scored his 4th goal of the season, his 100th career point as a member of the San Jose Sharks. Mackenzie Blackwood had to be spectacular and was making 28 saves.
"[I had] a couple of tough games," Blackwood said. "Sometimes they don't go the way you want. If you just keep sticking to the game plan, things turn around. It was nice to have a better game tonight."
"He's missed a lot of hockey. I anticipated this progression for him," Quinn said about Barabanov. "He's playing better and better, and he's back to where I envisioned him being before the season started."
Kyle Burroughs did not dress for tonight's game, as Quinn said he is dealing with a lower-body injury. He deemed his injury day-to-day. Marc-Edouard Vlasic entered the lineup in his place.
William Eklund, with a speedy zone entry, found Alexander Barabanov for the game's first goal. Barabanov scored his third goal of the season with a shot that beat Hellebuyck five-hole.
Neal Pionk gets a shot deflected by Morgan Barron, and it gets through Mackenzie Blackwood to tie the game at one. It was Barron's 8th goal of the season.
The Sharks penalty kill continues to fail them as they give up another powerplay goal. Gabe Vilardi scores his 8th goal of the season to give the Jets a 2-1 lead.
"We just got to be more detailed in our execution," Quinn said about the penalty kill.
