The San Jose Sharks are not getting any favors from the injury bug.

As the San Jose Sharks embarked on their five-game road trip, head coach David Quinn expected centerman Mikael Granlund to return to the lineup.
Unfortunately for San Jose, that won't be the case. According to reports, Granlund's return timeline is back to week-to-week.
"We actually thought he was playing [against the Florida Panthers on Tuesday]," Quinn told SJHN yesterday. "Thought he was in. But unfortunately, it didn't work out."
Quinn also said that the team was still evaluating him, so there is no official timeline even though he can be considered week-to-week.
San Jose has been without its captain, Logan Couture, for the entire season so far as well. Quinn has repeatedly told the media how much the team misses having them on the ice.
"It will surely be nice to get Granlund back and Couture at some point because they'll make a big difference for us," Quinn said after the Sharks played the Boston Bruins. "In essence, when you lose those two guys, you lose six players. You lose those two guys, and they're going to certainly elevate the play of their two wingers."
Couture has been skating in San Jose, and when the team returns from its road trip, David Quinn will be able to provide an update.
San Jose is now without Alexander Barabanov, who got injured against the Florida Panthers on Tuesday.
Barabanov was put on IR today, and the Sharks recalled Ryan Carpenter from the AHL as a corresponding move.
San Jose is still looking for its first win tonight when they take on the Tampa Bay Lightning.
