The San Jose Sharks and Minnesota Wild have completed a minor league trade.
The Sharks have sent forward Oskar Olausson to the Wild in exchange for defensemen Kyle Masters.
Olausson was acquired this past summer by the Sharks in a trade with the Colorado Avalanche that sent the signing rights to Daniil Gushchin to the Avalanche.
Now, without even playing in a single game within the organization, Olausson has been traded to the Wild, where he will try and find some stability. He was originally drafted by the Avalanche in 2021 and was thought to have some NHL upside. Unfortunately, it is incredibly hard to make that lineup in Colorado, with all the skill.
When he was dealt to the Sharks, it seemed like he had a chance to be a bottom-six forward for the club. But, after training camp he was placed on waivers and sent to the San Jose Barracuda, unfortunately, he never played in a game. Now, he looks to try and climb the ranks in Minnesota and hopefully get another chance to play at the NHL level.
As for Masters, has spent majority of his time in the ECHL with the Iowa Heartlanders. He did appear in 16 games with the Iowa Wild of the American Hockey League and record 13 points. However, he hasn't played a game in the NHL and likely won't see the opportunity with the Sharks.
