When the San Jose Sharks claimed Barclay Goodrow off waivers, the former New York Rangers forward expressed frustration with his former team. He has since "turned the page."

The former Sharks overtime hero returns as part of a cap dump by Rangers GM Chris Drury. Sharks head coach Ryan Warsofksy told NHL.com he flew to Toronto to meet Goodrow.

"I think he's kind of turned the page on New York now. This is a business and that's part of life. … And he's responded great," Warsofsky said. "He's all bought in and I'm excited because he's a big piece of our team and I think he's excited, too."

There were reports of a back-door deal between Sharks GM Mike Grier and Drury to claim Goodrow, but nothing has been proven.

Goodrow expressed his frustration that he didn't receive the respect he deserved from the Rangers.

After some time over the summer, Warsofsky says Goodrow is bought into being a San Jose Sharks player. He mentioned Goodrow's close relationship with Logan Couture was beneficial.

"We talked for a while and he's in a good place and he's excited," Warsofsky said. "He's obviously been in San Jose before, and he knows some of the guys. He and [captain Logan Couture] are really close, so that helps."

Goodrow understands what it takes to win the Stanley Cup, as he is a two-time winner with the Tampa Bay Lightning. For a team that will put out top prospects like Will Smith and Macklin Celebrini, Goodrow's experience and style of play will support the young core.
