Via Upper Deck - Sharks' 2024 Upper Deck Draft Spotlight: Macklin Celebrini

Macklin Celebrini's impact on the San Jose Sharks hasn't been felt on the ice yet, but the potential of what he brings is off the charts.

There is no question why the Sharks drafted the Vancouver native No. 1 overall at the 2024 NHL Draft. The centerman may not have "generational" talent, but his game is franchise-altering if that is even a difference.

San Jose's rebuild has taken time, and it will take longer. The teardown of salary, older players, and utilizing draft picks to increase the prospect pool looks over. GM Mike Grier got some luck this season and now has his centerpiece to build his vision.

Celebrini signed his ELC and will play in the NHL next season. He has no reason to sign that contract and get sent to the AHL, but nothing is certain until he officially makes the team.

Celebrini didn't score in the Sharks prospect scrimmage, but he had highlight after highlight during the development camp practices.

The Sharks don't project to have a playoff-contending season in 24-25, but there is an expectation of improvement. San Jose was able to sign Tyler Toffoli and Alex Wennberg during free agency. They were interested in signing in the Bay Area because of the prospect of playing with Celebrini.

The Sharks future No. 1 center has all the tools to become a successful NHL superstar.
