The San Jose Sharks open the season on Thursday, but the team is excited for the NHL regular season to start tonight.

The San Jose Sharks open their season against the defending Stanley Cup Champion Vegas Golden Knights on Thursday.
But that doesn't stop players and coaches from watching the action tonight as the NHL regular season starts.
William Eklund told THN that the game he is looking forward to watching tonight is the Chicago Blackhawks against the Pittsburgh Penguins, and not for Connor Bedard's debut.
"[I'll] Probably watch Karlsson tonight," Eklund said. "Not Bedard," I asked, "Oh, yeah, he's playing too," Eklund joked.
Thomas Bordeleau also enjoys watching the NHL when he has time.
"I like watching my buddies I played with at Michigan playing with their respective teams," Bordeleau said. "It's nice too, because we're on the West Coast, and sometimes when we don't play games, I get their games at 4:30 p.m., so I can easily watch the whole thing and maybe even watch another game after that."
Bordeleau added that he likes watching the Nashville Predators because his father is a development coach.
San Jose Sharks head coach David Quinn also enjoys sitting down and watching NHL games.
"I love watching hockey, and I'll be watching games tonight and tomorrow and then get ready for our game," Quinn said.
When asked which game tonight stands out, Quinn quickly responded with Vegas. Again, the Sharks will open their season with the Knights coming to the SAP Center.
Quinn added that he is excited to see what type of show the Knights put on for their Stanley Cup banner-raising ceremony tonight. He continued by saying he is happy for some players he coached who won with Vegas last season.
