The Seattle Kraken remain open to trading forward Jared McCann, a new report by David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period suggests.

McCann is the franchise's leading point and goal scorer, leading the team in each category multiple times throughout the franchise's four seasons of existence. The Kraken have added two forwards in the offseason, those being Mason Marchment and Frederik Gaudreau, both players the Kraken could flip at the trade deadline if they are out of contention.

Despite rumors surrounding McCann, reports continue to indicate the Kraken aren't actively shopping McCann, but are willing to listen and entertain offers for the 29-year-old.

“His name started to pop up around the trade deadline; he’s still available,” Pagnotta said. “He’s somebody that we’ve been hearing that Seattle is also open to moving.”

McCann would garner a large haul if the Kraken elected to move him. With a cap hit of just $5 million for an additional two seasons, McCann would be a sought-after asset due to his skill and financial situation.

Moving McCann would also free up roster space for the Kraken to begin implementing their young forwards like Jani Nyman and even Berkly Catton. The decision will greatly impact the Kraken's season. With McCann, the Kraken will more than likely miss the playoffs, but without him, the Kraken will be one of the worst teams in the NHL.
