Ottawa, CA - Eight Kraken prospects will represent multiple nations in the IIHF World Junior Championships, the elite under-20 hockey tournament. Training camp for the world’s top young players begins this week. Skaters representing ten countries will be separated into two groups and compete from Thursday, December 26th - Sunday, January 5th in Ottawa, Canada.
More 18-year-olds will represent the Kraken at this year’s World Juniors than the team’s entire roster in its first two seasons. The Kraken also boast a strong World Juniors legacy: Matty Beniers helped lead Team USA to gold in 2021, recording 1 goal, 2 assists, and averaging 17:05 of ice time as the youngest player on the roster. In 2009, Jordan Eberle scored a clutch tying goal and shootout winner for Team Canada.
