Former St. Louis Blues forward T.J. Oshie has announced his retirement from professional hockey.
Oshie, 38, was selected by the Blues with the 24th overall pick of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. From there, he spent the first seven seasons of his NHL career with the Blues from 2008-09 to 2014-15, where he was a very important part of their forward group. In 443 career games as a Blue, he recorded 110 goals, 200 assists, 310 points, 625 hits, and a plus-71 rating.
Oshie's time with the Blues ended during the 2015 NHL off-season when he was traded to the Washington Capitals for Troy Brouwer, Pheonix Copley, and a 2016 third-round pick. Oshie proved to be an impactful player for the Capitals, too, posting 192 goals, 385 points, and a plus-16 rating in 567 games over nine seasons. He also won the Stanley Cup with the Capitals in 2018, where he recorded eight goals and 21 points in 24 games during that run.
In 1,010 career NHL games over 16 seasons, Oshie had 302 goals, 393 assists, 695 points, and a plus-87 rating. Overall, the former Blues star had himself a great career, and the NHL will miss having him around as a player.
