One area the St. Louis Blues should be looking to improve this off-season is the right side of their defense. Bringing in a top-four right-shot defenseman would certainly give their roster a boost as they look take another step forward in 2025-26.
When looking at free-agent defensemen who can hit the market on July 1, one player who the Blues should seriously consider making a big push for is Columbus Blue Jackets blueliner Dante Fabbro.
After being claimed off waivers by the Blue Jackets from the Nashville Predators this season, Fabbro thrived and proved that he is an impactful defenseman when playing at his best. Because of this, he received first-pairing minutes with Zach Werenski and was also used on the Blue Jackets' penalty kill this campaign.
In 62 games after joining the Blue Jackets, Fabbro posted nine goals, 26 points, 66 hits, and a plus-23 rating. With numbers like these, he could be a great addition to the Blues' second pairing with Philip Broberg.
At 26 years old, Fabbro is also right in his prime and will continue to be for multiple more seasons. This also should make him appealing to a Blues club that could use help on their right side.
Nevertheless, it will be very interesting to see if the Blues target Fabbro this summer. The fit looks there on paper.
