The St. Louis Blues should be in for a busy off-season after a successful 2024-25 campaign. The Central Division club got back into the playoffs this year after an incredible finish to the regular-season and should now look to further improve their roster from here.

One specific area on their roster that the Blues could look to upgrade is the left side of their defense. Due to this, Pittsburgh Penguins blueliner Matt Grzelcyk would be a solid player for the Blues to try to bring in this summer.

Grzelcyk, 31, just put together a strong 2024-25 season with the Pittsburgh Penguins. In 82 games, the Massachusetts native scored one goal and set new career highs with 39 assists and 40 points. With numbers like these, the 2012 third-round pick would certainly give the Blues' defensive group a boost offensively.

If the Blues brought in Grzelcyk, he could slot very nicely on their bottom pairing. In addition, he would give them another clear option for their power play if brought in.

Another appealing factor about Grzelcyk is that he has a lot of playoff experience due to his time with the Boston Bruins. With the Blues looking to take another step forward next season, this element about Grzelcyk could make him a player that grabs St. Louis' attention.

On a short-term, affordable deal, Grzelcyk could be a solid depth addition to the Blues' defensive group. In 527 career NHL games over nine seasons, he has recorded 26 goals, 175 points, and a plus-131 rating.
