During the 2024 NHL off-season, the St. Louis Blues acquired forward Radek Faksa from the Dallas Stars for future considerations. With the Stars needing to free up cap space, they were willing to part ways with Faksa and his $3.25 million cap hit, and the Blues took advantage of that.

In 70 games with the Blues this season, Faksa posted five goals, 15 points, and 115 blocks. He also stood out during the playoffs, recording one goal, five points, and a plus-7 rating in seven contests. With all of this, he proved to be a solid depth addition for the Blues this season.

Now, the Blues have a decision to make with Faksa, as the 31-year-old is a pending unrestricted free agent and can hit the market on July 1. However, with how well he has fit into the Blues' system, they should work to keep him around.

There is a clear case to be had with keeping Faksa around, especially if they can at a lower cap hit. The veteran forward worked well in their bottom six and was also a key part of their penalty kill. He was also a good veteran leader for the Blues during the campaign. Due to this, Blues general manager Doug Armstrong has been open about being interested in keeping Faksa in St. Louis.

Overall, if Faksa is willing to re-sign with the Blues on a short-term deal at a lower cap hit, it is something that would make a lot of sense for the Central Division club. It will be intriguing to see if he gets a new deal from the Blues from here.
