Two former Tampa Bay Lightning players have hit the waiver wire.
The NHL had 28 players hit the waiver wire today (Oct. 1). Several players will continue to be placed on waivers over the next few days as NHL teams finalize their opening night rosters.
Two former Lightning players - Louis Domingue and Mitchell Stephens - are among those who were placed on waivers today.
With the New York Rangers having Igor Shesterkin and Jonathan Quick as their NHL goalies, seeing Domingue placed on waivers is not surprising in the slightest. He will once again be a key part of the Hartford Wolf Pack's roster, assuming he clears waivers first.
Domingue spent the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons with the Lightning. In 38 games as a Bolt, he had a 28-8-1 record, a .910 save percentage, and a 2.88 goals-against average.
Stephens, on the other hand, was placed on waivers by the Seattle Kraken. The 27-year-old signed a two-year, two-way contract with the Kraken during this off-season.
The Lightning selected Stephens as the 33rd overall pick of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. In 45 games with the Lightning from 2019-20 to 2020-21, he had three goals, four assists, and a minus-14 rating.
