This Tampa Bay Lightning PTO addition had a strong first pre-season game.
Before the start of the training camp, the Tampa Bay Lightning brought back Logan Brown on a professional tryout (PTO) agreement. This was after the 6-foot-7 forward was unable to play a single game for the Lightning last season due to injury.
Brown played in the Lightning's first pre-season game of the year yesterday (Sept. 24) against the Carolina Hurricanes and left a strong first impression. The 2016 first-round pick scored the Lightning's lone goal in the matchup and was also very noticeable throughout it.
Brown's play on his goal is exactly what the Lightning are hoping to see from the young forward. After dumping the puck into the Hurricanes' defensive zone, Brown retrieved it in the corner and quickly passed it in front. Then, after getting the puck back later in the play, Brown sniped it home with a perfectly placed snapshot.
Overall, this was simply a tremendous all-around shift from Brown, and it is exactly the kind of play that will help his chances of getting a contract from the Lightning. It is no secret that the Lightning could use more options for their bottom six, and Brown is making a real case for himself to make the NHL roster.
