This Tampa Bay Lightning prospect will look to make a big impact in his first pre-season appearance.
After falling to the Carolina Hurricanes by a 2-1 final score last night (Sept. 24), the Tampa Bay Lightning will be right back on the ice tonight (Sept. 25) against the Florida Panthers. This is a pre-season game that Lightning fans should keep an eye on, as some exciting players will be suiting up for it.
New Lightning top prospect Conor Geekie is one of them, as it has been confirmed that the promising youngster will play for the Lightning tonight.
The Lightning acquired Geekie from the Utah Hockey Club as a part of the Mikhail Sergachev. The 2022 first-round pick possesses great potential and could blossom into a top-six talent in the future. During this past season in the Western Hockey League (WHL), he had 43 goals and 99 points in 55 games. That is simply outstanding offensively production, and now he will look to translate some of it over to the professional level.
With Geekie having good upside and being highly skilled, the 20-year-old forward has been considered a potential candidate for the NHL roster. If he makes a notable impact in his first pre-season game, it will undoubtedly help build his case of making the Lightning's opening night roster.
Nevertheless, it will be fun to see if Geekie can make a good first impression tonight. When noting that the Lightning have spots to fight for in their lineup, Geekie has a grand opportunity in front of him.
