The Lightning won't be getting one of their forwards back against the Sabres.

The Tampa Bay Lightning are gearing up for a big contest against the Buffalo Sabres tonight (Feb. 29). However, it has now been confirmed that they won't be getting one of their forwards back for it. Jon Cooper shared with reporters that Tanner Jeannot will not return to the lineup for the matchup.

Jeannot, 26, has not played since Feb. 13 against the Boston Bruins, where he had just 5:44 of ice time. Before then, he played in just three games during the month of January due to a long-term lower-body injury.

It is certainly tough to hear that Jeannot is still not ready to return. The Lightning could use his gritty style of play as they try to improve their placement in the Eastern Conference standings.

In 42 games this season with the Bolts, Jeannot has six goals, six assists, 164 hits, and a minus-11 rating.
