The Tampa Bay Lightning will be sporting an intriguing roster against the Carolina Hurricanes tonight.
Hockey season is back.
The Tampa Bay Lightning will play their first pre-season game of the year tonight (Sept. 24) against the Carolina Hurricanes. The Lightning's roster for the matchup has now been revealed, and there are some notable players to watch during it.
Lightning free-agent signing Cam Atkinson is one of the top players to watch tonight. The 5-foot-8 winger is currently competing for a spot in the Lightning's top six, and a strong performance against the Hurricanes would help his case on that front.
Fellow Lightning newcomer Zemgus Girgensons will also play for the Lightning tonight. This will be the first time Girgensons plays a pre-season game for a different NHL team, as he spent the first 10 years of his career with the Buffalo Sabres.
Lightning prospect Gage Goncalves is another player to watch in this matchup. After an All-Star campaign with the Syracuse Crunch, the 23-year-old is currently fighting for a spot on the Lightning's NHL roster. In 69 games last season with the Crunch, he had 13 goals and 58 points.
Lightning professional tryout (PTO) addition Logan Brown will also be in the lineup for this contest. After missing the entirety of last season due to injury, this will be the 6-foot-7 forward's first game action in over a year. The 2016 first-round pick will look to impress, as it will help his chances of earning a contract from the Bolts for the season.
Below is the Lightning's complete roster for their matchup against the Hurricanes.
Forwards: Cam Atkinson, Logan Brown, Mitchell Chaffee, Anthony Cirelli, Lucas Edmonds, Zemgus Girgensons, Gage Goncalves, Ethan Hay, Nick Paul, Kaden Pitre, Conor Sheary & Lukas Svejkovsky
Defensemen: Declan Carlile, Max Crozier, Dyllan Gill, Emil Lilleberg, Darren Raddysh & Roman Schmidt
