This Lightning superstar beat Connor McDavid in the NHL's recent player poll.
It is not a secret that Edmonton Oilers superstar Connor McDavid is one of the greatest players the NHL has ever seen. Since his arrival, he has been a dominant force, and he seems to only get better as each season passes. This season has been more of the same, as he has 31 goals, 99 assists, and a plus-34 rating in 74 games.
There's no question that McDavid is out of this world with his passing. However, in the latest NHLPA player poll, he was not voted as the NHL's top playmaker. Instead, Tampa Bay Lightning superstar Nikita Kucherov was given that distinction, receiving 28.47% of the 569 votes. McDavid, on the other hand, received 20.91% of them.
When looking at how spectacularly Kucherov has played this season, it is entirely understandable. The 30-year-old has been dynamite, with 43 goals, 98 assists, 141 points, and a plus-10 rating in 79 games. He has been the NHL's most dominant player in 2023-24, and his peers are clearly recognizing that by him being named the top playmaker in the league through this poll.

Kucherov has two games to get two more assists to hit the 100-assist mark this season. If he is successful, it will only build his case even further as the NHL's best playmaker.
