Lightning's Nikita Kucherov Receives Big Honor
Tampa Bay Lightning forward Nikita Kucherov has been nothing short of sensational this season. The superstar winger has 43 goals and a league-leading 136 points. He also needs only seven more assists to be the first winger in NHL history to reach 100 assists in a single season.
What's more encouraging about Kucherov's play is that he is only getting better as the season rolls on. Because of this, he was recently given a big honor from the NHL.
Kucherov, 30, was named the NHL's First Star of the Week from April 1-7. In four games during the week, he had a goal and 10 points. He also had three straight three-point games.
Pittsburgh Penguins superstar center Sidney Crosby was named the Second Star, while Artemi Panarin of the New York Rangers was picked as the Third Star. That's elite company for Kucherov to be with.
Nevertheless, this is only Kucherov's latest big accomplishment during his magical season. Let's see how he builds on it down the stretch.
