The Lightning defeated the Blueshirts by a 5-1 final score, which included the Bolts scoring three first-period goals.
Point played a big role in the win, as the 29-year-old forward scored twice and recorded an assist. Due to this, the Lightning star forward has hit a new impressive single-season milestone.
With his first goal of the night, Point hit the 40-goal mark for the season. This is now the third season in a row where the 2014 third-round pick has scored at least 40 goals. In 2022-23, Point scored 51 goals in 82 games and then followed that up with 46 goals in 81 contests this past season.
Only the best snipers in the NHL can score at least 40 goals in a season, and Point is doing so with great consistency. The Calgary, Alberta native is an integral part of the Lightning's roster and continues to be one of the game's best stars with numbers like these.
Following this strong performance against the Rangers, Point now has 41 goals, 38 assists, 79 points, and a plus-17 rating in 72 games this season.
