After a disappointing loss to the Vegas Golden Knights last night, the Vancouver Canucks (46-21-8) are back in action and ready to take on the Arizona Coyotes (31-38-5). Both teams come into this game having lost their previous outing, with the Coyotes falling 8-5 to the New York Rangers on Saturday. With a win, Vancouver would record their 22nd road win of the season, which would tie the 2002-03 team for the sixth most in franchise history.
The main focus for the Canucks against Arizona has to be defensive structure. The Coyotes have scored 19 goals in their last three games and aren't afraid to sacrifice defensive play in order to create offensive chances. If Vancouver can play a strong game in their own zone, that should open up plenty of opportunities to strike on the counter-attack.
Players to Watch
Conor Garland
Conor Garland continues to be a difference-maker for the Canucks. Drafted in the fifth round by Arizona in 2015, he is currently on a three-game point streak and has found the scoresheet in six of his last seven games. Whether it is on the power play or at even strength, Vancouver will need him to be a difference-maker if they want to leave the desert with a victory.
Logan Cooley
Logan Cooley has been one of the best players on the Coyotes for the last few weeks. He has four goals in his previous two outings and has points in six of his last eight games. A potential star in the making, he is part of this young Arizona core looking to make a statement late in the season.
