The Canucks scored twice in the third before Brock Boeser scored the game-winner in overtime, defeating the Bruins 3-2.

Despite being down 2-0 heading into the third, the Vancouver Canucks (38-16-6) fought back, beating the Boston Bruins (34-12-13) 3-2 in overtime. Brock Boeser scored twice, including the game-winner, while J.T. Miller recorded three assists in the win. With the victory, Vancouver ties their win total from last season while also remaining in first place in the NHL for the evening.

This may have been one of the Canucks best wins all season. They dominated the game after the first period, outshooting Boston 30-12 through the final 40+ minutes. It was also impressive that the team kept fighting despite the 2-0 deficit, ultimately getting rewarded for their hard work. In what felt like a playoff atmosphere, Vancouver delivered a massive win as they snapped their four-game losing streak in style.

Overall, there were plenty of positives to take away from this game. The Canucks scored on the power play for the first time in three games while also holding one of the league's top power plays off the score sheet. They also did a fantastic job limiting Boston's top players, holding Brad Marchand and David Pasternak to zero shots through the third period and overtime. With tough matchups ahead, including four straight against the Pacific Division, the Canucks will need to emulate this type of performance if they want to expand their lead atop the division.

    Quotes

Tyler Myers on the team's performance:

"Yeah, just stick with it. I thought we were controlling the play, and we capitalized on two opportunities. The PP came through for us in to, and it was great to see them get one. It was an all-around good effort. Special teams were good. You know, they were slipping a little bit the last few games, and it's gonna happen at times throughout the year. We just got to stick with it."

    Nikita Zadorov on the win:

"I mean, I'd rather win five nothing. It's hard. You're definitely working for your chances. They're a pretty good defensive team. I don't think they give off much, and we got opportunities in the third period. Big players stepped in for us."

Rick Tocchet on his team's performance:

"It was a hell of an effort. I mean, you know, kind of went after the guys the last couple of days. To be honest, all year, they've been a resilient group. Obviously, Milsey (J.T. Miller), his third period, was incredible. But, you know, I liked our resolve when it was two nothing. Our bench was pretty calm, I mean, in the sense that we weren't panicking. I liked that we weren't all in; you know, if they score the next goal, maybe it's over. So I liked the bench, the way they were. I honestly didn't do much tonight."

Rick Tocchet on J.T. Miller's performance:

"Well, I mean, obviously, it's huge. When you see him hitting, everybody wants to hit. I just thought his will tonight was strong, and I could feel a lot of guys. He was leading the way, and they were following him. Like I said, he was really calm. He was one of the guys talking to the guys like hey, it's only two nothing, even with like 13 or 14 minutes left. He was saying hey, you know, keep doing the right thing. So that's the nice thing as a coach when you hear your leader say that."
