The Vancouver Canucks defeated the Nashville Predators 1-0 in Game 6, booking their spot in the second round. Pius Suter was the hero, scoring with less than two minutes to go, while Artūrs Šilovs put on a heroic performance, making 28 saves for his first career playoff shutout. With the win, the Canucks will now take on the Edmonton Oilers in an all-Canadian matchup.

The best way to describe this game was an emotional roller coaster. Fans at the Rogers Arena viewing party and around the province celebrated what was arguably the biggest win in the last decade. While it was a stressful game to watch, Suter's goal made it all worth it, as fans celebrated the first non-bubble series win since 2011.

Arguably, the most impressive moment of the game was Vancouver's final stand while holding a 1-0 lead. The Canucks penalty kill came up huge as they have all series, killing a last-second power play. Whether it was an incredible save from Šilovs or Tyler Myers making a game-saving block in the dying seconds, the team didn't lose their composure and sacrificed their body to hang on for the victory. In the end, Vancouver deserved to win this game and showed that they can battle through adversity and aren't afraid to put their bodies on the line when it matters most.

    Quotes

Artūrs Šilovs on the pressure heading into Game 6:

"Embrace the challenge. I had already played in big stages before so I was already familiar with what would happen, what kind of game it was going to be. It's a great opportunity for me to play for a big club and seize the opportunity."

Pius Suter on watching the final seconds of the game from the bench:

"You get nervous. I think, especially once the scramble mode starts, and guys are lying on the ice playing like a soccer goalie out there. Mysey (Tyler Myers) just kind of jumping around, trying to block the shot. You just kind of hope that the puck just bobbles over a stick and goes out of the zone, but those guys did a great job."

Rick Tocchet on what it means to advance past the first round:

"It means a lot because we have grown as a team. We're not pretty. We are who we are, but we hang in, and the guys buy in. To keep that team to zero, I think the way we played defence really helped us stay in the game. Yeah, we would like more offence. Hopefully, some of those goals go in for us in the next series, but I think that they buy in on the way we play defence, that's keeping us in. It's been a fabric from our team this year. I'm just proud. Since the training camp, the way guys have bought into what we are trying to do around here. We've had our moments, but we don't apologize for who we are. We just try to keep marching along, and we're in for a tough series."

    Rick Tocchet on Artūrs Šilovs:

"They're tough decisions to make, but a guy like him (Šilovs), you just see his demeanour. Even when he wasn't playing, when he was the third goalie, he was at practice, he works on his game, he's juggling and doing his routine for hours in the hallway. You can just tell the moment's not too big for him. He's calm in the net. This is the Stanley Cup Playoffs. You're the third goalie and need to go in there; that takes a lot of, you know what I'm saying to do that and have the guys have confidence in him. The guys are confident with him in the net and Casey too, and then obviously the big boy Demmer. We got some good goaltenders in this organization."
