The Vancouver Canucks announced that head coach Rick Tocchet will join Team Canada's 2024 Four Nations Face-Off coaching staff.
"It was quite an honour," Tocchet said when he heard from Jon Cooper that he was being considered for Canada's staff, Chris Faber writes. "It's the same feeling coaching as it is playing for your country. There's obviously a lot of pride and the whole country will be backing us. I'll have to take the Vancouver jersey off and be honed in for Team Canada and help the players in whatever capacity."
Tampa Bay Lightning head coach Jon Cooper was named the head coach for Team Canada. Other assistant coaches named alongside Tocchet are Vegas Golden Knights bench boss Bruce Cassidy, Dallas Stars' Pete Deboer and Misha Donskov, and video coach James Emery.
Tocchet won the 2024 Jack Adams Trophy as the best head coach in the NHL. The Canucks won the Pacific Division and defeated the Nashville Predators in the first round before losing to the Edmonton Oilers in the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Six players have been officially named to the roster. Connor McDavid, Sidney Crosby, Cale Makar, Nathan MacKinnon, Brayden Point, and Brad Marchand.
