After a strong stretch of play that saw him be named the ECHL Player of the Month, Vancouver Canucks prospect Josh Bloom is heading back to the AHL. Bloom has recorded a total of 15 goals and 13 assists in 19 games wth Vancouver’s ECHL-affiliate, the Kalamazoo Wings. This includes a 6–5 win against the Cincinnati Cyclones on March 1 that saw him score four goals.
Bloom has split time between the ECHL and AHL this season, beginning the regular season with the Abbotsford Canucks and ending 2025 with Kalamazoo. His last stretch of AHL play came in January, in which he skated in five games with Abbotsford at the beginning of January.
Bloom’s run of play at the ECHL level has been impressive as of late, as the forward has recorded seven multi-point games in his past 15 matches with Kalamazoo. Five of these have seen him put up three or more points. His previous career-high in the ECHL is 20 goals and 19 assists, both of which he is likely to surpass if he plays any more games with Kalamazoo this season.
Abbotsford resumes their current six-game home stand with their third match, a game against the Manitoba Moose on March 10 at 7:00 pm PT. Recently, the AHL Canucks have been playing shorthanded when it comes to forwards, so Bloom’s insertion into the lineup will be helpful to the team.
