After a career year, Vancouver Canucks Sawyer Mynio was named to the WHL's U.S. Division Second All-Star Team. The Canucks third-round pick from 2023 set new career highs in goals (16), assists (37) and points (53) with the Seattle Thunderbirds. He was also named the Thunderbirds Defenceman of the Year after finishing in the top five on the team in goals, assists, and points this season.

Mynio stepped up this season for a rebuilding Seattle team. He improved his offensive game and showed he could be a reliable top-pairing defenceman at the WHL level. Mynio also showed he could be a leader, as he wore an "A" this season and will be considered for Seattle's captaincy next season.

While nothing official has been announced, Mynio could join the Abbotsford Canucks over the next few weeks as he has been signed by the Canucks. This would allow him to get to know the coaching staff and team system before returning to the WHL in 2024-25. Even if he doesn't play, an assignment to the AHL could benefit his overall development as he learns what life is like at the pro level.
