A look at four Canucks prospects that have impressed recently.
The Vancouver Canucks are starting to build up an impression prospect pool. From strong play in junior to success at the pro level, Canuck prospects are making an impact all over the world. Here is an update on four prospects that have impressed over the past few weeks.
Linus Karlsson
Linus Karlsson is starting to heat up for the Abbotsford Canucks. He has seven points in his last five games, including three-point nights against the San Jose Barracuda and the Calgary Wranglers. Now with 34 points in 37 games, he will need to keep up his strong production as Abbotsford battles for home-ice advantage in the playoffs.
Jonathan Lekkerimäki
Over in the SHL, Jonathan Lekkerimäki has been the puck in with ease over the last few weeks. Vancouver's 2022 first-round pick has scored in five of his previous six games and leads all U20 players in goals with 16 and points with 26. Örebro HK will need him to keep up his hot streak if they want to make it to the qualifying round and pull off an upset in the SHL playoffs.
Josh Bloom
Since returning to the OHL, Josh Bloom has become a crucial part of the Memorial Cup-bound Saginaw Spirit. He is now up to 19 points in 23 games and is playing on the team's top line alongside Owen Beck and Hunter Haight. A force at both ends of the ice, he will be leaned upon heavily for the rest of the season and into the Memorial Cup tournament.
Nikita Tolopilo
Nikita Tolopilo has been impressive during his first AHL season. In 20 games this season, he is 13-7-0 with a .908 save percentage and a goal-against average of 2.78. As for his recent play, he is currently on a three-game winning streak, which included a massive victory over the Wranglers last week. Based on his overall play, it is safe to say the Canucks have found yet another goaltender prospect who could one day play games at the NHL level.
