While going over the Saturday Headlines, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reported that teams have called the Vancouver Canucks about Elias Pettersson.
"One of the things that I think has developed over the last couple of weeks in Vancouver is the noise around Pettersson," Friedman said. "What that has led to is teams calling the Canucks and asking what is going on here and could he be available."
Pettersson will be an RFA at the season's end, and while the Canucks have tried to extend their No. 1 center, there seems to be a disconnect.
"The Canucks do not want to comment on this. They feel the noise is already enough," Friedman continued. "They are telling teams, we are trying to sign him, and that is our goal."
Pettersson is set for a big payday, and other NHL GMs wouldn't be doing their due diligence if they didn't check in on the situation.
Given where the Canucks are in the standings and how crucial he is to their success, it is unlikely they will move Pettersson, but crazier things have happened in the NHL.
