Eric Bolte-USA TODAY Sports - Canucks Prospects: Jonathan Lekkerimäki Headed Back To Abbotsford; Wins SHL Rookie Of The Year

Vancouver Canucks prospect Jonathan Lekkerimäki is headed back to the Abbotsford Canucks and could be in the lineup for tonight's crucial game three.

Lekkerimäki attempted to make Team Sweden for the 2024 IIHF World Championship but unfortunately didn't make the team. Abbotsford is down two to zero in their series against the Ontario Reign.

Rick Dhaliwal reports that Lekkerimäki is a game-time decision for tonight's game. He is currently on a flight back to Abbotsford. He debuted in North American pro hockey at the end of Abbotsford's regular season. In six games, he scored one goal and one assist.

Lekkerimäki was named as the SHL Rookie of The Year.

In 46 games for Örebro HK this season, the winger had 19 goals and 12 assists. He is one of the Canucks top prospects and could see time in the NHL as soon as next season.
