The San Jose Sharks will select first overall in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft.

The 2024 NHL Draft Lottery is complete, with the San Jose Sharks winning the first overall pick. The Sharks are expected to select the brother of Vancouver Canucks defensive prospect Aiden Celebrini, Macklin Celebrini, with the first pick overall pick this June. The 2024 NHL Draft will take place on June 28th and 29th from the Sphere in Las Vegas and is projected to be the last in-person draft before the NHL adopts a virtual draft like the one seen in the NFL.
Celebrini has plenty of ties to Vancouver. His dad, Rick Celebrini, worked for the Canucks in the Human Performance Department prior to joining the Golden State Warriors in 2018. Celebrini also spent his youth playing hockey in Vancouver and was part of the BC Junior Canucks at the 2016 Brick Invitational. He has also stated how he is a fan of Vancouver, even going as far as to suggest the Canucks should have tanked during the 2023-24 season in order to have a chance at selecting him.
Outside of San Jose, three more Pacific Division teams will be selecting in the top ten at this year's draft. After picking second in 2023, the Anaheim Ducks will select third this season, while the Seattle Kraken and Calgary Flames will pick eighth and ninth. As for Vancouver, they do not have a first-round pick this season, as it was traded to the Flames in the Elias Lindholm deal.
