
The Vancouver Canucks have selected Melvin Fernström from Örebro HK J20 93rd overall in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft. Listed at 6'1", 188 pounds, Fernström is a right winger who had 63 points in 45 games in the J20 Nationell while also playing six games at the SHL level. A back to back J18 Gold Medalist, Fernström was Sweden's leading scorer at the U18s, he helped lead his country to a Bronze Medal.
Fernström is a gifted player who thrives in the offensive zone. He has a great shot and understands how to get open to create high-danger chances. Fernström is also a strong playmaker and can deliver tape-to-tape passes through sticks and into scoring positions.
