The Vancouver Canucks may be interested in yet another member of the Calgary Flames. While on the TV show "Donnie and Dhali," Elliotte Friedman spoke about how the Canucks are looking to add a top-six forward at the trade deadline. One player mentioned was Elias Lindholm, a pending unrestricted free agent who currently carries a cap hit of $4.85 million.

The addition of Lindholm would provide Vancouver with more flexibility in their lineup. Head coach Rick Tocchet could feel comfortable keeping the "lotto line" together as Lindholm could help the second line find its scoring touch. The Flames center has proven he can produce in the past and is currently on pace for his third straight 50+ point season.

On top of his offensive capabilities, Lindholm is a great two-way player who has finished in the top ten for Selke voting each of the last two seasons. The ability to produce at both ends of the ice is crucial to Tocchet, as he is not afraid to bench players who make defensive mistakes. Overall, Lindholm fits the style the Canucks are playing, which makes an intriguing target for Vancouver's management group. He also has some experience playing with Elias Pettersson, as the two were part of Team Sweden during the 2019 World Championships.

Another important point that Friedman mentioned is that acquiring Lindholm will not be cheap. He pointed out that the Canucks needed to pay extra when acquiring Nikita Zadorov earlier in the season and may be forced to once again pay Calgary a premium to make this trade happen. While no specifics were mentioned, a trade could include multiple picks and prospects as the Flames look like they are about to enter a rebuild.

With Vancouver also reportedly interested in Chris Tanev, a trade with the Flames has the potential to be a blockbuster. The question is, how much is general manager Patrik Allvin willing to give up? This organization has made it clear they aren't looking to trade prospects that haven't turned pro yet but may be forced to if they want to make a big splash at the deadline. Currently scheduled for Mar 8, expect some moves from Canucks management as they look to strengthen their roster ahead of a potential run to the Stanley Cup.
