The Vegas Golden Knights have acquired Anthony Mantha (50% retained) from the Washington Capitals for a 2nd round pick in 2024 and a 4th round pick in 2026.
Mantha is a 29-year-old, 6’4 winger. He’s played in 56 games this year, scoring 20 goals and 34 points.
Mantha is known for being a two-way scoring winger. He’s an efficient scorer shooting 22.2% in just 14 minutes of ice time per game. Mantha is third on Capitals in points and second in goals despite playing on the second power-play unit. He’s also first on the team in even strength goals.
Mantha isn’t the most physical player on the ice but even with his big frame he is a very strong skater, something Golden Knights are missing. He can slot anywhere in the top nine for the Golden Knights.
Mantha is set to become an unrestricted free agent in July. His current cap hit $5.7M but with the Capitals retaining 50% of his salary, the Golden Knights will only be paying him $2.85M. This leaves the Golden Knights cap space to acquire more players before the deadline.
