The Vegas Golden Knights have put themselves in a great spot by winning the first two games of the series on the road, but taking it game by game and not getting too far ahead of themselves is going to be key if they want to close out the series.

It's easy for fans to get excited about the prospect of going on another long playoff run. Up two games to zero against the top seed in the Western Conference, it's understandable to feel as if their team is unbeatable but the players on the Golden Knights roster need to make sure they keep the right frame of mind.

Shea Theodore was asked about the difficulties of not looking too far ahead.

"Like last year you just have to focus one game at a time," said the 28-year-old defenseman. "You can't look ahead too far. Obviously last year was a lot of fun with the success that we had but at the same time, the way that we got there was playing game by game, not looking too far ahead and focusing on the game that day."

Nicolas Roy knows that it's hard to not see yourself further ahead but understands the importance of staying focused on the game in front of them.

"Obviously you can picture yourself being further ahead in the playoffs but I guess we just have to play it game by game," said the Golden Knights centremen. "They have a really good team, they finished first in the West for a reason so we know they are going to push back next game and we can't look further."

The Golden Knights don't want to get too far ahead of themselves but HC Bruce Cassidy believes they should use the energy and confidence from being up 2-0 in the series to good use. He knows that at any time momentum can switch, the bounces can go against them and timely goals may not go in their favour, so keeping the mindset they've had for so long is crucial.

A step on their throat and never give-in type of mentality could be the answer to putting away the Dallas Stars.
