Carrier has missed 30 games with an upper-body injury.
The Vegas Golden Knights have moved William Carrier on long-term injured reserved, CapFriendly reported on Saturday.
The move opens up $1.4 million in salary cap relief.
Carrier missed 30 games thus far with an upper-body injury. He had been skating on his own, but his return date is unknown. The team will have a better timeline when he begins skating with the team.
On Friday, Vegas general manager Kelly McCrimmon said that they expected Carrier back, but a serious illness has compromised the recovery process.
"His return has been complicated by a pretty serious illness. That has slowed him down a little bit," McCrimmon said.
Carrier is an unrestricted free agent this upcoming season. He has scored five goals with two assists this season.
